St John the Apostle Association
The SSJ carries out this evangelizing mission through the Saint John the Apostle Association (SJAA) which, through specific programs, is adapted to the various ages, cultural situations, and necessities of those to whom the missionary action is directed. The Saint John the Apostle Association and the Saint John Society are intimately united by their same origin and shared spirit. Both assume the Gospel according to Saint John as their inspiring text. The priests of the St. John Society are dedicated to the design and supervision of evangelization programs in training their leaders and ministering to the participants through spiritual retreats, faith formation, and spiritual direction. We have developed programs of evangelization, formation, and leadership for different groups and life-situations, based on personal relationships, conversion retreats, small faith communities, faith formation, and spiritual direction. The rationale for these programs or ‘faith itineraries’ is that our lives cannot be shaped by Christ just by a few scattered and disconnected events. It is through a genuine and ongoing discipleship, in the context of a Catholic community, through the guidance of leaders, and through teaching and sacramental life, that someone can attain the fruits of the Holy Spirit: ‘love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control’ (Ga 5:22-23).
