1. Friendship.
2. Apostolic fervor:.
3. Teamwork.
4. Creativity for the Mission.

Friendship:

“I no longer call you servants (…) I call you friends” (Jn 15,15).

Our friendship with Jesus is the source and the foundation of the friendship between us.  Like the disciples, we desire to share with Jesus and between us the joys and adventures of apostolic life.  Fraternal life, prayer life, and apostolic life form the basis upon which we build our friendship with Christ and with each one of the members of the Saint John Society.  Attention to details, warmth in interaction, mutual help and the work of formation, among other things, are concrete ways in which we seek to strengthen this relationship of friendship founded and desired by the Lord.
We experience our friendship with Him and with others as a gift of Jesus for the SSJ and for each one of us in particular.

Apostolic fervor:

“I have come to set the earth afire” (Lc 12, 49).

Uniting ourselves to Jesus in his ardor to announce salvation to each person means that we live evangelization as an urgency.  Because of this, we proclaim Him and his message to each person.  It is imperious that we go out to encounter those who are farthest away and speak to them of Jesus, with courage to open new ways and to face the challenges with which they present us.  The apostolate of the SSJ is that of personal influence, one on one, and at the same time, it has the goal of forming and strengthening the Christian community in each place to which the Lord sends us.  Because of the urgency of the mission, and conscious that the time is always too short to proclaim Jesus, our work is specific: directed to those farthest away, principally among those who have the potential to be agents of change in the society and leaders of communities.

Teamwork:

“In each one the Spirit manifests itself for the common good” (1Cor 12, 7).

The Holy Spirit shares his gifts and charisms so that we can proclaim Jesus.  In teamwork—discerned, in consensus, and evaluated—these talents are multiplied, permitting a better development and follow-through of apostolic projects.  We are certain that we are not the protagonists, but rather that all and each one of us give our talents to the service of Jesus and his mission: to proclaim Salvation to all people.  This being the reason and ultimate objective of our teamwork, we experience the need to live the virtues of humility and of magnanimity, that lead us to propose for ourselves new apostolic challenges, and to know how to listen to others and make the Mission our priority.

Creativity for the Mission:

“Every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” (Mateo 13, 52).

Creativity for the mission is the capacity to respond to new situations.  It is one of the distinctions proper to the disciple, that he is apostle and that he profoundly lives his vocation and mission to proclaim Jesus.  In this way, assuming all the evangelical tradition of the Church, we throw ourselves forward, looking for renewed paths for the work of evangelization, supplementing the old with the new.
